It is our great pleasure on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Sports to welcome you to the 48th Myanmar Health Research Congress to be held from 13-17 January 2020 at the Department of Medical Research.
Myanmar Health Research Congress has been held since 1965. Over the years, researchers, public health specialists, clinicians, pharmacologists, pathologists, microbiologists, biochemists, molecular biologists and many experts from various fields have contributed their work at these research congresses. These events each year aim to present and provide evidence-based applicable research findings to end-users to attain the highest quality in health care. They also serve as a platform for researchers both nationally and internationally to exchange updated scientific information, share innovative ideas and ignite new research collaborations.
The theme for the 48th MHRC will be “Antimicrobial Resistance: A Threat of Global Concern”. Antimicrobial resistance is a global public health concern to humans, animals and the environment. The abuse and misuse of antimicrobial drugs contribute to the development of antimicrobial resistance globally. Antimicrobial resistance is a complex problem that increases the cost of health care which affects all of society. To address the antimicrobial resistance, a multidisciplinary approach is required including enhancing laboratory facility to detect resistance, strengthening the current system for tracking and monitoring antimicrobial resistance, provision of access to quality-assured essential drugs and promoting rational use of antibiotics with good antimicrobial stewardship.
The 48th Myanmar Health Research Congress invites all the participants from local as well as all over the world which includes oral talks, poster presentations, symposia and scientific talk sessions encompassing diverse areas of research, as well as diagnostic and pharmaceutical exhibitions.
We hope you will join us and we look forward to seeing you all at the 48th Myanmar Health Research Congress.
